Ch 1 · Two Companies Under One Roof
Chapter 1 · Growth
One company. Two very different businesses.
A mature, slow-growing core. A small, fast-growing bundle of new bets. Coupang reports them separately — and so should you.

✦ The bottom line
Coupang sold $34.5B in 2025, up 14%. But the headline hides a split. Its core Korean retail business (Product Commerce) grew just 4% last quarter, while its bundle of newer bets (Developing Offerings — Taiwan, Farfetch, food delivery) grew 28%. Same company, two speeds.

Reportable segments
Big companies often run several different businesses. To stop one from hiding another, they split results into segments — and they have to report each one's revenue separately. Coupang has two: Product Commerce (its mature, profitable Korean store — the part you picture) and Developing Offerings (its newer, money-losing bets it's still scaling). Reading them apart is how you see what's really going on.
Wall Street calls this
Business segments
A blended '14% growth' number is almost meaningless here. The segment split tells you the core is maturing while the future is being built somewhere else — a completely different read.
Total net revenues · fiscal year 2025
$34.5
B
Up 14% from $30.3B in 2024. A genuinely large retailer — but the growth rate depends entirely on which of its two businesses you're looking at.

Here's where the single number breaks apart. In the most recent quarter, the two segments told opposite stories — one mature and slowing, one small and sprinting. That divergence is the most important thing to understand about Coupang.
Q1 2026 growth · core vs. new bets
4% vs 28
%
Product Commerce (core Korea) net revenues grew just 4% to $7.2B; Developing Offerings (Taiwan, Farfetch, Eats) grew 28% to $1.3B. The core is maturing; the future is being built in the smaller, faster segment.

Two speeds
A big, slow-growing core and a small, fast-growing set of bets. The whole Coupang story lives in that gap — don't read the blended number alone.
